LEARNING & SUPPORT

Journey Book – Tapestry
We use Tapestry to communicate to parents about their child’s progress. It’s a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.

Educational Support
We use the BNN governance framework to map out the child’s development against the Early Years framework standards and outcome in collaboration/communicating with parents.

We support the critical development of children, as we are aware of the importance of the developmental period from birth to the age of two. This is the period when the brain development is at its optimum growth with the brain creating connections at the rate of 1 million per second. We want to provide all our children with a healthy and positive environment – to develop and have the opportunity to grow to their full potential in preparation for statutory Education.

Speech Support – Makaton
The staff have received Makaton training which will be used interactively daily with the children as another way of communicating with the world around them – Makaton uses signs and symbols to help people communicate. It is designed to support the development of spoken language. With Makaton, children and adults can communicate using signs and symbols. Many people then drop the signs or symbols naturally at their own pace,as they develop speech. Makaton is extremely flexible as it can be personalised to the individual’s needs and used at a level that is suitable for them.
